Thanks for every sunrise

We dogs do not know the concept of death as you people perceive it. We don’t understand it as something completely final. From our point of view, there is no difference between death and falling asleep every day.

Therefore, every awakening to a new day is a miracle for us. We are grateful for each new morning. For every sunrise. For we see our humans again. We do not take any of this for granted.

At first, my he-human told me not to write about it. It sounds like a cliché from a cheap motivational book about a happy life. But then he told me a few years old experience of the Himalayas. He encountered a caravan on a narrow path rising into the mountains. They carried a climber who died of altitude sickness. They hurried and were gone in an instant. But there remained a message in the thin air that resonated like an echo between the rocks: “Life is a gift. Live him. ”

You people have laws that give you the opportunity to accept or reject any gift. We dogs would never refuse a gift like life. We live it to the fullest, even though it can sometimes seem difficult to us (for example, when our owners are combing us). And so we rejoice for every new morning, for every new reunion with our humans. Too bad you humans don’t understand our dog language. I would explain to you that these are not clichés. But that’s how a happy life is made.

Take it or leave it

We dogs accept the world around us as it is. Whether it’s people, situations, or events. When I was in the puppy mill, I had no idea that there was another world. And I simply lived. With what was.

I noticed that you people have it differently. You often can’t accept things the way they are. You want them to be what you want to see.

There would be nothing wrong with that in itself. But you want to dictate to the world around you what it should look like even in areas over which you have no power. You often try to interfere in the lives of other people. And you have no right to do that.

I don’t want to get involved, but I think then you have to suffer a lot. Believe us, dogs: life needs or to be taken as is or left to lie down. I don’t want to get involved, but I think then you have to suffer a lot. Believe us dogs: life needs to be taken as is or left to lie down.

Love

You humans are bizarre and very complicated creatures. I’ve noticed that you often talk about love, and just few of you know what love really is. You often limit the concept itself to partner love. And even in short, you have distorted ideas about that. Despite the fact that I observe your relationship between the partners, I would seldom call it love.

For us dogs, love is part of our instinctive equipment. For you, people, too. But you don´t care your instinctive equipment. In your rational conceit, you think that you know everything better than how nature has given it to you.

Love, as we dogs know it, is without exception unconditional. We are always ready to give the life for our young without problems. And we do not expect them to graduate in return and provide us with grandchildren with their heterosexual partner.

We dogs are encoded in genes that everything in this universe is interconnected. And that we can’t be happy if we don’t make others happy. And that’s why we love you people so much. You need it most of all the creatures we know.

End of holiday season

I love summer. And the holidays. Our house is open, we live outside. Our humans usually have their human puppies here. And we also travel. I get to know new places, new smells. Or we just are lying out with Dino in the sun on the doorstep.

But now there is less sunshine. My he-human explained to me that the holidays were over and the summer was ending as well. Fortunately, we dogs, unlike humans, do not understand time. We don’t know what it is when something ends. We like summer as well as life. And we think both will continue forever. So we enjoy both. As long as we have both of them.

I didn’t enjoy much sun or life in the puppy mill. So I’m trying to make up for it now. If I were human, I would pour myself Spanish red wine, open Greek olives, and wonder how beautiful life is. And I would look at photos from our holidays in Olomouc, for example.

Injustice

Did you notice that our he-human is exhibiting more photos of Dino than mine? On the one hand, I consider this to be very unfair. And most importantly, it’s not wise at all.

When you look at the covers of human magazines, beautiful girls predominate. How many magazines would put a photo of a boy who doesn’t want to comb on the front page? And which bites when brushing his teeth. And which is still dirty from digging holes in the garden.

Please explain to my he-human that if we want to set the world on fire with our blog, we especially need photos of a beautiful young dog lady. Like me, Chica de Tulear!

Perseids

My humans like to look at the stars. Recently, we even watched them fall from the sky to the ground. My he-human explained to me that what we see falling are not stars from the sky. But only pieces of stones that float through space until they approach Earth. It attracts them by its gravity and the stone burns as it passes through the Earth’s atmosphere. Mostly earlier, before it fall down.

Under the summer night sky, our humans are silent and it is clear to me that they are thinking about important things. You people don’t have it easy – you sit under the stars and the responsibility of the whole civilization falls on you. You wonder what will happen when the planet does not feed us and what will happen when the Sun goes out and even what will happen with the life when our entire universe will disappear.

We dogs have it much easier. We are sitting under the stars and the only important thing for us is the fact that our humans are sitting here with us.

But if we bothered to think like people, I would explain to our humans that they don’t have to worry. If you people don’t kill each other, then there is always a solution to everything. When your Earth is small, you will surely inhabit other planets, then other galaxies, and finally other universes. And I guarantee that you take dogs everywhere. Because without dogs human life would be empty.

And if people would be so greedy and stupid that they will destroy each other, the dogs become the smartest creatures on Earth. They would build their own civilization, inhabiting other planets, galaxies and universes. There is simply no need to be afraid of the future.

Rocks

Four years in the puppy mill I knew just the four walls of the shed in which we were imprisoned. I never got a chance to see the space outside.

It was not a nice experience. But as the saying goes, “everything bad is good for something.” I’m not angry with my past today. Because, unlike some spoiled dogs, thanks to it, I’m just amazed at how beautiful the world is.

I have seen many wonders of the world with my humans over the past year. Such as meadows, fields, forests and city parks. I also got to know streams, lakes, ponds and rivers.

True, I haven’t seen the sea yet. But my humans promised me that sooner or later I would experience this endless body of water with salt water and waves.

Today we got to know the rocks with our humans and Dino. In the rocks it is full of interesting smells and nooks. The rocks are full of adventure. Just amazing. The whole world outside the puppy mill is magical. If you have never been imprisoned, perhaps you cannot even appreciate the immense happiness of living in this world.

Anniversary

We dogs don’t think much about what was and what will be. Our whole life takes place for us in the present moment. But that doesn’t change the fact that today is the year when I was locked up with other cotons in a dark barn. And I was incredibly scared.

It was Saturday. And we heard a car coming to that barn. The people who owned the place opened the gates and let us into the yard. It took a while for our eyes to get used to the light. Outside, two other people stood with a collar and a leash in their hands. We all ran out and the other dogs immediately ran to those people. I was careful and standing in the back. For one thing, I never rush anywhere. And on the other hand, the potential humans seemed a little goofy to me.

But then the he-human pointed at me. The home owners caught me tight. In gloved so I don’t bite them. And they put me in the car to those strange humans. I was very scared then. Little did I know that at that moment, everything in my life would be different.

Don’t think that it was a piece of cake with my humans at first. There were so many new things I was afraid of. They bothered me with bathing, combing, cutting claws, and cleaning my teeth, ears, and eyes. There were stairs in their house that I had never seen before and could not walk on. They made me walk out on a leash. We met other people and dogs there. And there were so many unknown smells and things that could be dangerous. And imagine that they forbade me to pee and do bay leaves in their house.

But I am a docile girl, and I have noticed that this makes my humans happy. And for us dogs there is no greater happiness than to make our humans happy. So in a few weeks I was a completely different dog. I don’t rush into anything, but when I stand behind my he-human, I’m not afraid of anything. I haven’t seen him bite anyone yet. But I’m sure if he did, so that it would turn out very badly with the bitten one. And that gives me confidence. Most of all, we dogs need the certainty that our humans love us and will protect us in every situation.

Holidays

The main summer holidays for children began in our country. We dogs have a vacation all our lives. And our humans as retirees already have a holiday forever.

However, holidays are rare for children, as they have compulsory schooling most of the year. This year was exceptional, because the schools were closed due to the virus. But it wasn’t a real year-round holidays, because the children had to watch the teacher at least on the screen.

For me and Dino, these holidays are exceptional, because we slept outside of our house for the first time. My he-human explained to me that just as we dogs do not have to be afraid of rabies after vaccination, so they do not have to be afraid of their human virus after vaccination. And so we can start traveling again.

So we went with their cubs to the cottage in the forest. We had a lot of fun and adventure there. Every day we went on long trips, looking for treasure and a fallen satellite. And most importantly, we were a big pack together again.

We dogs love those human holidays too!

Happiness of people and dogs

It will soon be a year since my life has changed dramatically. From the poor conditions of the puppy mill, I got to my humans. Most people who find out about my destiny feel sorry for me. Unnecessarily. I think I was very lucky in life.

I was given the opportunity to experience firsthand that something positive can be found even in the bad. Even in the puppy mill, I had moments when I was happy. For example, when I got food, or when I find friends in a pack. I didn’t wait with my happiness to get away. I could still wait for that.

I appreciate that I knew both bad and good. I can see the differences now. I appreciate what I have. Not like some spoiled dogs who have everything conceivable and still not enough for their happiness.

People have it differently. They often look for happiness where they cannot find it. And it is located right next to them. But they don’t see him. They are still waiting for something to happen that will be the reason for the real happiness. Until they finish school. Until they find a good job. Until they make enough money. Until they buy house. Until they are famous. Until … And finaly they die without being happy.

And so, my nice people, I advise to you: be like us dogs, live with what is and be happy with it! Remember that feeling happy is just a matter of our choice. After all, like all feelings. We must not give anyone and anything external the power to control our feelings.
